About Ripple9
Ripple9's mission is to enable musicians to reach the broadest audience possible, and to be appropriately rewarded. Ultimately we'll be offering the service to anyone who makes creative works, but initially we are focusing purely on musicians.
Our service is focused on providing a set of distinctive tools that work together, cutting across mobile phones and web, allowing you to distinguish yourself, build your fan base, and ultimately drive traffic to your music and to your gigs.
The editor of Wired magazine, Chris Anderson, coined a term - "the long tail" referring to the current phenomenon that digital distribution of music allows fledgling bands to distribute their work efficiently, even if they have not yet been discovered by a label, or the masses. The idea behind the long tail is that zillions of bands can effectively distribute music to a very small fan base and that the combined amount of music sold in small amounts adds up to a bunch of money that can make the businesses who distribute these small amounts quite successful.
Our service
But you don't want to distribute just a few copies of your stuff, you want to distribute gobs of it. So while MySpace helps fans like me discover lots of new music, you are ultimately the one who has to promote the heck out of your music by making sure people discover you, show up to your gigs, and by distinguishing yourself within the MySpaces of the world. That is what Ripple9 is for. We've created a service that helps you promote your music as effectively as possible in a digital world: get your music in your fans pants, remind fans (and their friends) to come to your gigs, accelerate and manage the growth of your fan list. The service takes advantage of the fact that every one your fans, or fans-to-be has a mobile phone in their pocket , and that they know how to send and receive text and picture messages.
Our Name
Ripple9 comes from the effect we intend our service to have on your music. Create ripples, that start with a few, but that ultimately reach millions. It just so happens that there are 9 zeros in a billion, which is how many plays we would like your music to ultimately get... and hence our name Ripple9.
Currently
The Ripple9 service is currently available as a "beta". As a beta user, we are hoping you will invite other bands and fans to explore the service, and we appreciate your early patience and feedback. We are also looking for a small number of bands to be "design partners" with us on steady basis as we evolve our service. This involves being available every once and while to see demos of new features and to provide us your opinions. We feature our design partners on the introduction page of www.ripple9.com and in our promotional campaigns. Please email support@ripple9.com if you would like to be one of our design partners.
Also, please note the "Feature request " link that is available on the bottom of every page once you have signed-in to Ripple9.com. Click it, and make a request at any time. While we are happy to receive requests for a new friend, free vacation to St. Croix, or a brand new Stihl MS 250 C-BE with Easy2Start™ chainsaw, we will likely be more responsive to requests regarding the Ripple9 service.
We also may be contacted at support@ripple9.com.
Much thanks and enjoyment,
- The Ripple9 Team -
